Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel won the fourth stage of the Tour of Britain to Kendal by Newcastle to take the overall lead.
Van der Poel established an explosive uphill sprint to power clear, winning by three seconds from a set of four passengers, including Britain’s Ben Swift.
Italy’s Matteo Trentin had started with a guide near the peak of the classification.
But he trails Van der Poel to move.
